Anti-helix piercing

Type of piercing

An anti-helix piercing goes outwards through the back of the top edge of your ear. As it’s very painful, many piercers offer punching as an alternative; this involves removing a small amount of cartilage from the channel. Another advantage of punching is that the wound heals quicker.

Healing: Anti-helix piercings generally heal in three to eight weeks.

Risks: In the worst-case scenario, you could get an infection.
