Hot-air steriliser
An autoclave, or hot-air sterilizer, is a must in any piercing studio. It uses a combination of hot water and high pressure to thoroughly clean jewellery, and instruments such as scissors and clips, killing off even heat-resistant spores and bacteria.
Piercers are required to have their autoclaves tested regularly. For more information, see spore testing.
