A tragus goes through the cartilage immediately in front of your auditory canal that connects your ear to your head.
Unlike an earlobe piercing, a tragus is not done with a piercing gun, which is used for soft tissue and is unsuitable for the hard cartilage of the ear. This hardness also means that a tragus is more painful, and takes longer to heal.

Healing. If you have a tragus piercing, expect it to take a fairly long time to heal, and look after it carefully.

Risks. Important nerves lead to the brain from the tragus, and if this piercing is not done properly it may cause serious brain infections. As with all piercings, use an experienced professional.
